I have been practicing Japanese swordsmanship (iaido and kentujsu) for years.

And all that time we have been struggling in our dojo (in vain), to find a place on the net where we could acquire functional and elegant hand and forearm protections (“kotes”) for our training sessions.

So, to fill that gap, months ago I set out to design and build those imaginary kotes on my own, combining on the one hand my knowledge of the technical requirements needed to get real functional protections, and my experience as a leather craftsman on the other.

Nowadays, the result are amazing leather armbands, in samurai fashion, carefully designed, decorated, finished and, what is even more important, tested to protect your hands and forearms from accidental blows. And, as if that were not enough, without compromising the necessary mobility of your wrist while handling your bokken, your iaito or your katana.

After seeing the results, I have decided to continue to complete my samurai armor (and other styles) in the near future with identical materials and finishes.
